SUSTAINABILITY
All buildings in Iceland run on renewable energy. We have taken it a step further and added a ground source heat pump which further helps reducing the carbon footprint of the house. When you read the house guide you will see that the recycling and composting of the waste is an integrated and hugely important aspect of the operation here and we expect all our guests to part-take in that effort. Almost all the furniture in the house and garden is purchased used/second hand and similarly our excess is given away to be repurposed. Wherever possible we try to buy local - by doing so we know we are supporting the local community. We encourage our guests to do the same. We plant 100s of trees every year and offer our guests the opportunity to buy and plant a tree during their visit. Please bring your reusable water bottle with you to Iceland as we have fresh spring water running out of our taps.
